The mission of the Baldwin County Fire Department is to protect citizens from injury and loss by any threats to life and property.  Baldwin County Fire Department partners with the community to provide service to residents, businesses, and visitors.

Open Burning

Please call the Fire Department at 478-445-4421 in advance when you are going to burn on your property. Should someone report your fire to us out of concern, it is very important that we are aware of the location so that valuable time and resources are not wasted in responding.

  1.  Make sure you are burning only hand piled natural vegetation, leaves and limbs. Anything else is illegal.
  2.  Make sure you have a water source available so, if the fire gets out of the area, you can extinguish.
  3.  Make sure fire is at least 50 feet from a structure.
  4.  Fire must be out before sunset.
  5.  Do not leave the fire unattended at any time.
  6.  If you are burning for more than 1 day, you need to call us back that day and let us know.                                                       
  7.  If your fire gets out of control, you are fully responsible for any damage to yours or anyone else’s property.
  8.  If you are burning machine piled debris, you must contact Georgia Forestry at 478-445-4329.
